Meeting the Chef Halfway

It can be very difficult for chefs to purchase meat and produce from local farms due the time consuming nature of traveling to farms and farmers markets and finding the appropriate quantity of the ingredients they want to purchase. Yet at the same time some chefs feel unwilling to sacrifice the quality of fresh farm grown meat and produce.
Fortunately there are food companies that buy food directly from small family owned farms and deliver them directly to restaurants. Black River Produce is one of those companies. It is stationed in North Springfield VT and delivers to restaurants in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York. They have been in business for over 30 years and make it their goal to pick up produce the day it’s harvested and transport it straight to the kitchen so that their customers get the freshest produce possible.
